Why Do People Blog?
So, I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying: that if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life – and, that’s the beauty behind writing blogs. You can take anything that you’re passionate about and write about it. Whether it be fishing, gardening, jewelry, or arts and crafts, you can start small and you can learn how to communicate using the most effective platform out there – the internet. The reason that it’s the most effective platform is the reason it’s so useful. With more and more people getting online nowadays, people from all around the world are able to access your blogs and read what you have to say in a matter of seconds. Your blog allows you to share the knowledge that you have, to share your passion, whatever it may be. Personally, my passions are sales and marketing, business, soccer, and athletics. Quite a lot of things really. The fact that a blog is one of the easiest ways to share your passion with the world is one of the main reasons so many people start writing blogs.
Monetize Your Passion
Another reason so many people choose to write blogs is the fact that they can make money by writing about what they love. Four years ago I read a book called “Crush It”, by Gary Vanerchuck, and in this book he explained how you can really take practically any activity imaginable, any passion that you have and monetize it. For him it was the small liquor store in New York that had run in his family for generations. Specifically, his passion was the wine they sold. He created wine of the month club and interviewed people, allowing them to come to him for questions about wine and he would answer all their questions. Now, Tony Robbins is credited for the saying, “The quality of your life is determined by the quality of questions that you ask yourself.” So you have to really ask yourself, “If Icould do anything in my life over and over again without it feeling like work, what would it be?” Well, whatever your answer may be, answer that call and follow that direction. There’s plenty of people who’ve build full time careers blogging about their passions, and plenty more starting each and every day.
Master the Art of Blogging and Thrive
People have been using blogs to spread their message about whatever it is that they are involved for years. A lot of them get into blogging with the dream that someday blogging alone will sustain them and allow them to thrive. There have been hundreds of thousands of success stories throughout the years, with new ones popping up every day. Thousands and thousands of blog posts are published each day, further proving that blogging is still alive and that more and more people are getting into it.
Broadcast Your Message
Gone are the days of conventional media as we knew it! The keyboard has replaced the pen and more and more people are turning to blogs to spread their message. A few examples of how blogs are used to spread messages are; companies using blogs to spread brand awareness, showcase their expertise and test out new products and marketing strategies, people writing blogs to influence others and make a difference, and people writing blogs as a way to help and communicate with others going through certain situations. Regardless of the message that’s being conveyed, an online blog is a great way to spread it.
It’s Easy to Get Started
Back in the early days of the internet, blogs and websites were reserved for the tech savvy individuals out there. Nowadays, there are tons of free tutorials and thousands of hours of video online explaining how to get started blogging covering everything from setting up a blog from scratch to monetizing your blog. There’s so much free and valuable information available online that even people with no technical knowledge whatsoever are able to get set up and blogging within a few hours.
Engage with a Community of Like-Minded Individuals
With a little bit of marketing and regular, well written content, plenty of bloggers out there have turned their blogs into small, online “communities” of people they can share their passions with. And that’s really what blogging is all about- engaging with like-minded individuals on a regular basis through published content.
Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Some people write blogs because it allows them to step out of their comfort zone and express their true feelings – perhaps it’s the anonymity of the internet, or maybe it’s the fact that bloggers are surrounded by a group of like-minded individuals. Others see blogging as their escape from their everyday lives and an outlet for their creativity. Some bloggers might even choose to blog because they like reading their followers’ messages of praise and support whenever they publish new content.
Find Your Own Reasons!
If you’re reading this trying to figure out exactly why people write blogs – there’s no one size fits all answer. Everyone has their own personal reasons for writing blogs. Whether it be to turn their passion into their full-time career, earn a little bit of extra money on the side, or as a hobby – people don’t just wake up one day and decide they’re going to write a blog. If you’re trying to decide whether you should start your own blog, you should be really thinking about why you want to do this. Writing blogs should be fun and something people love doing, it shouldn’t be a chore so dig deep and find your own reasons to write a blog. Good luck!
